winter tears

in composition class last semester, we had to write some poems. i really enjoyed it so here's a ballad i wrote about my dad's accident, which happened 16 years ago. it isn't perfect by any means, but i'm trying to learn more about writing poems.

winter tears

One fateful day in the middle of December,
Something happened that we'll always remember.
My dad had an accident in our front lawn,
And life as we knew it was forever gone.

It was snowy and cold when help came,
They loaded him up and sped away.
His life of walking would never be the same,
Because of the accident on that fateful day.

The next couple months were quite a blur,
As the days came and went,
They were not sure,
What all this even really meant.

Would he live? How would life be?
What did this mean for my parents and me?
God had a plan for our family,
Even though it was hard to see.

The earth kept turning
As our world kept churning.
God healed my dad,
And we were ever so glad.
